Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) is a private, faith-based institution owned by the Episcopal Conference of the Catholic Bishops of Uganda, established in 1993. Located primarily in Nkozi, about 82km southwest of Kampala, it is known for its holistic education, integrating academic excellence with ethical values. UMU is particularly recognized for its programs in climate-smart agriculture, education for sustainable development, and ethics, and hosts the African Centre of Excellence in Agroecology and Livelihood Systems (ACALISE).
