Seonam University, a private institution established in 1991 in Namwon, North Jeolla Province, South Korea, was officially shut down by the Ministry of Education on February 28, 2018, due to severe financial irregularities and a failure to provide quality education. The university had two campuses, in Namwon and Asan, and was known for its programs in medical science, local development, arts, and physical sciences. Its closure was part of a government initiative to address financially unhealthy higher education institutions amidst a declining student population in Korea.
