The Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) is a public research university located in the cities of Halle and Wittenberg, Germany. Established in 1817 through the merger of the University of Wittenberg (founded 1502) and the University of Halle (founded 1694), it is the largest and oldest university in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. MLU is known for its strong research in materials science, protein biochemistry, agricultural sciences, and enlightenment studies, offering a wide range of German and English-taught programs across its ten faculties.
