Economics Olympiad 2025 International Final Concludes in Ancient Olympia with 28 Nations Competing

The 2025 Economics Olympiad International Final Round was held in Olympia, Greece, drawing competitors from 28 countries out of an original field of 120,000 students, with Canada winning National Delegation of the Year.

The 2025 International Final Round (IFR) of the Economics Olympiad took place in the historic setting of Ancient Olympia, Greece. Students from 28 countries competed at the final stage, having distinguished themselves from an original pool of approximately 120,000 participants worldwide. The top 10 international champions were crowned following rounds of written exams, presentations, and teamwork challenges. In the delegation awards, Canada took home the National Delegation of the Year trophy, followed by Vietnam in second place and Greece in third. The Economic Fundamentals Initiative (EFI), which supports students from Georgia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan among others, reported that 4 of the top 10 gold medalists came from EFI member countries, with EFI nations collectively accounting for 11 of the 28 competing delegations. The Economics Olympiad is described as the world's largest and fastest-growing international economics competition for high school students aged 14 to 20. Beyond the academic contest, the event emphasises cross-cultural exchange and collaboration. International university applicants — particularly those targeting economics, finance, or public policy programmes — can strengthen their profiles by participating in future cycles of the Olympiad.
